Everyone wants to feel loved. Many people look for love in everything that they do. They search frantically for it from friends, family, and spouses. When they don’t find love from people, they turn to other things to comfort them (ex. alcohol, drugs, gambling, cutting, sex, etc.)
But what people don’t realize is that what they are missing is God’s love. His love is the only pure love that can fill the emptiness inside of us. Some people base God’s love on what they have found from other people, and expect for Him not to love them. But people come from a sinful nature, and God has never been sinful. We can’t base His love on what other people have done to us, we can only base it on what the Bible tells us.
Here are a few scriptures that tell us of His love:
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” Colossians 3:12 (NIV)
“For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you.” 1 Thessalonians 1:4 (NIV)
“But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions–it is by grace you have been saved.” Ephesians 2:4-5 (NIV)
So be encouraged. When you start to feel like nobody loves you, remember that God loves you greatly.
